About The Artist
Jasmine Tuan is a multi-disciplinary creative. She has done several projects and collaborations, from fashion, design to art and illustration. At her graduation show in 1999, she was approached and commissioned by Singapore Post to create a set of four stamps design for the Singapore Arts Festival 2001; now archived at the Singapore Philatelic Museum. Jasmine has contributed work for the Singapore Fashion Festival exhibition in 2002 and 2003 and participated in the Singapore Street Festival in 2004. She was also commissioned by Her World Magazine to work on her illustration 'live' during their 50th Anniversary and Woman of the Year Gala Dinner event in 2009.
In 2005, fashion cult label FrüFrü & Tigerlily was initiated with two of her best friends. In 2006, Achtung! Achtung! video design team was formed to showcase her love for music expressed through colourful moving visuals. She later ventured deeper into fashion and founded Blackmarket in late 2008 which aimed to support and give local and regional talents the spotlight they deserved.
The Singapore Women's Weekly magazine nominated Jasmine Tuan as one of "The Great Women of Our Time" in 2012 for her contributions to the fashion industry.
