Love's Gonna Last
by Aiwei Foo
Stitched Yarn Loops, Fabric & Vinyl Record
52.5 cm (covered) x 54 cm; 102 cm (opened) x 54 cm
BID AT DEN ON 27 FEBUARY 2015
This work is responding to the vinyl's original title, "Love's Gonna Last" by Steve Myers, in which a 'love letter' was attempted as a final outcome because to write love letter is a luxury and rarely being practiced nowadays as the digital tools have taken over our common daily lives.
However, the 'love letter' is not a written one but stitched onto the vinyl, made possible by iron soldering 480 holes. The original message within this vinyl (the music) cannot be heard anymore as it can no longer be played. It is a dilemma of delivering one message but omitted the other.

About The Artist
Foo Aiwei is an artist and designer working across different disciplines. First trained as a painter and subsequently a fashion designer, her faith and practice in art and design are the extension of everyday life. She intends to fuse art, design and life as the fundamental of living because she believes that they are inseparable with each being a genuinely substantial source and reference to the other. She enjoys her craft and engages her design philosophy of being hands-on with designing and making; thus, she has never ceased to initiate different personal and collaboration projects under her former working platform named ‘See You Tomorrow'; now renamed ‘Aiwei Foo’, her studio remains multi-disciplinary and manages assignments dealing across visuals, objects/clothing and styling.
